The Surviving Sibling

A Journey of Two Sisters

The Surviving Sibling book cover

It was the humming that nudged me into action!

The Surviving Sibling explores the journey of two sisters, inspired by the younger of the two sisters, Angela, who was diagnosed and passed away with brain cancer over forty years ago.

Written from the perspective of the surviving sibling, Angela became one of her greatest teachers and influenced her journey as a surviving sibling that continues to this day.

This book was written for two reasons:

  • To tell Angela's story, her journey and how cancer became part of that journey
  • How Angela's journey influenced the writers own experience as a Surviving Sibling

The experience of a Surviving Sibling is recounted here to assist other siblings and their families who have had - or are going through a similar experience, to live a life rich in purpose and meaning.

Michele Doyle, Author

About Michele Doyle

Michele currently lives in Tasmania and works as an Oncology/Remedial/Relaxation Massage Therapist. Michele started working in massage therapy twenty five years ago, returning to this work in 2019. Having previously worked in Community Development, this along with writing and massage therapy are her passions. Outside of work, Michele enjoys walking/hiking, yoga, travelling, reading and soul searching.

Why has it taken Michele forty years to write this book? Because the story did not end with Angela's illness and passing. Instead Angela's journey marked the beginning of this book and Michele's journey as a surviving sibling. Michele needed to progress to this point in her journey before she was ready to complete this book.
